Learn from the Past, Hope for the Future, Live in the Present

Learn from the Past, Hope for the Future, Live in the Present
~Ken Lancaster

Well, this morning,
I attended the Sunday Mass...
I really appreciated the Homily of Fr. Mariano...
He's really good...
And for this time, the homily answered the question blowing in my mind recently...
Thank God!

Well, the Gospel talks about the end of time and the second coming of the Lord...
In the homily, Fr. Mariano told us that we should live our present in hope for the future...
He also told that living in the present means preparing for the future and second coming of the Lord...
In his homily, he emphasized that the Lord will come to Earth for three times...
The first coming happened in the past (as we know)...
The second coming will happen in the future (in the end of times)...
And the most important, the third coming happens today, in our present....

He also told a story about the Indian tribe..
It is all about the chief who wants to know who will be the best successor among his three sons...
He summon his three sons to climb the mountain and look for a thing that they think would be the most important for their tribe...
All of the three sons climbed the mountain and returned home...
The first son brought home a very precious flower...
Everyone in the tribe knows that the precious flower is only found on the top of the mountain and all of them were amazed and thought that the first son may be the good successor of their chieftain...
The second son brought home precious stones of different color...
Everyone were amazed also and they knew that those stones are very rare...
The third son returned home with nothing...
His father asked him why...
He told his father that he can't bring anything home for what he found on the other side of the mountains is a fertile land with spring of water and he thinks that the tribe should go on the other side and live their...
The father was amazed of his third son and he believes that this son of him would be the best successor because he looks after the future of his tribe...

Fr. Mariano also mentioned about the movie "2012"
He noted that a chieftain of a Mayan tribe in one interview told that none of the books from their tribe foretold about the end of the world...
He also noted that throughout the history, from past to the present time, many "prophets" foretold about the end of times (and yet, they were wrong)...
But he noted that in the Gospel it was written that
"But of that day or hour, no one knows,
neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
No one can foretell when the end of times will happen...
If we believe of this predictions, it could affect our present lives...
It can affect how we should act....
If can affect our personality...
And hence, we couldn't live our life to the fullest and in hope for the future...

By the way, I want to post some videos from the youtube...
My brother has been watching these videos for so many times...
I know that he feels a little bit afraid about the end of the world...
